Marina del Pilar vila Olmeda, the governor of Baja California, reminded residents that the Executive Decree for the remission of fees and fines for water debtors for residential use is still in effect, as it will have a direct good influence on their economy.

It should be highlighted that the document, which has already been published in the Official State Newspaper, will remain in effect until the end of 2021, allowing the community to engage in and profit from such direct social action.

When the surcharges and fines for non-payment of water consumption rights are covered in a single display, the mandate, published in the Official State Newspaper, forgives users of the metered service for residential use 100 percent of the surcharges and fines.

Similarly, when debtors choose to pay in installments, 75 percent of the surcharges and 100 percent of the fines are canceled, as long as the payments are not more than six months apart.

Marina del Pilar reiterated the commitment to ensuring individuals' right to enough, nutritious, acceptable, and cheap drinking water for personal and family consumption.

The president emphasized that debt forgiveness is being presented as a direct measure to decrease the economic constraints that debts represent and support the regularization of state tax responsibilities while also successfully reducing the past due portfolio.
