On the occasion of the 132nd anniversary of the founding of the city, dozens of people of all ages gathered this Sunday morning, July 18, on Paseo de los Heroes Avenue to celebrate a day of family activities called "Tijuana Al Aire Libre" (Tijuana Outdoors).
The Tijuana City Hall highlighted the importance of sports and its impact on physical and mental health, as fitness reduces the risk of cardiovascular diseases and lowers stress and anxiety levels.
The event began at 9:00 a.m., where attendees were able to enjoy a Zumba class, as well as other family activities. In addition, the avenue was conditioned so that those who wished could use it for walks, walks with their pets, on bicycles, skateboards or roller skates.
Trees were also planted in the avenue's median, and others were given to the people who attended so that they could plant them in their homes, with the intention of improving the quality of the environment, which benefits the city and its inhabitants.
Among the attendees were delegates and subdelegates of the city, as well as the Directorate of Environmental Protection and the Municipal Institute of Sports in Tijuana (Imdet), who participated with enthusiasm in the activities and some came with their families.
The Directorate of Environmental Protection thanked the organizers for encouraging family coexistence and reactivating the population physically with attractive activities. She also thanked for the trees that were given away, and invited the citizens to take one home to improve the environmental conditions of our city. He also emphasized that as adults it is up to us to set an example to children.
On the other hand, Imdet thanked the attendees, and invited the citizens to continue participating in the next similar activities to, little by little, reactivate our city, after the confinement due to the pandemic, which we are still going through. He also invited citizens not to lower their guard and continue to comply with all prevention measures established by the State Health Secretariat.
