The first IKEA store in Mexico is now a reality and the manager has shared that it has not been an easy task because the coronavirus pandemic has caused logistical difficulties that have prevented the entire catalog to reach the branch.
And, in fact, for this very reason, in order to visit the store it will be necessary to make an appointment on its website as of April 1. It will also be important to take into account all the protocols shared by the Health authorities to be able to enter the facility.
But the interesting thing about this, is that despite these difficulties they still plan to open more branches. In addition to the stores that will open in Monterrey and Guadalajara by the end of 2023, and according to the director of the company in Mexico, Malcolm Pruys, Tijuana is one of these places. There are still no details about where the store will be located, or when it will open its doors, but this seems to be a fact.
According to Forbes, the director shared that: "We want to be very accessible, it is an opportunity to quickly test a smaller format, which then perhaps will allow us to reach other cities such as Toluca, Queretaro, Aguascalientes and Nuevo Leon, Tijuana, everywhere where we have a smaller population, but where we still want to be able to offer the brand".
IKEA will open its first store in Mexico next Thursday, April 8, and will have 3 floors and more than 5 thousand 300 catalog items and as the pandemic is left behind and logistical problems are solved the store will have 7 thousand 300 items in its catalog.
