It's been a long time since Halloween landed on a Saturday, but since COVID-19 is also present, this day will not look at all like we are used to seeing it (in theory). The City of Tijuana published on its official website that it will carry out a surveillance operation.

The objective is to keep the population safe, avoiding crowds on main roads and shopping centers. In fact, Roberto Esparza, the general director of police and municipal traffic, took advantage of the announcement to urge family members not to go out trick-or-treating or engage in other activities.

These rounds of surveillance will begin on October 31 and end on November 1 and will involve approximately 966 officers, 115 patrols and 60 motorcycles, according to the same publication. One of the places that will be most patrolled will be the Zona Centro.

For their part, health authorities are calling on the population to continue with preventive measures against the coronavirus, such as using face masks, antibacterial gel and not forgetting the safe distance, since there is a rebound in COVID-19 cases.

Citizens are reminded that there will be heavy fines for those who decide to ignore the instructions of health authorities and host house parties. These fines could be up to 82,000 pesos and would be issued to the hosts of the homes where the party was held.

So far, Baja California is in orange and Tijuana, as of yesterday's cut, has 103 active cases of coronavirus, concentrated in the Camino Verde, Zona Rio, Paseos del Vergel, Las Delas and Villas del Prado neighborhoods.
