The Secretariat of Tourism of the State (SECTURE) mentioned that Mariscos Rubén, from Tijuana, was recognized as one of the best restaurants in the world by the prestigious magazine Food & Wine - Travel + Leisure.
The list of nominees for this recognition was made by a group of experts and by votes around the world as well as from the visit and comments of quality inspectors.
The list was published by Besha Rodell, anonymous critic and writer who has reviewed and recommended food and culture for more than 20 years. In addition, for 4 months they visited anonymously 81 restaurants of all categories, in 24 countries, in order to determine what would become the first editorial collaboration with these magazines worldwide.
But "Mariscos Rubén" is, rather, a food truck. However, it is one of the six best Latin American places, and only two of those in the list are from Mexico.
The printed and digital edition of the article mentions the variety of fresh seafood that can be found in Baja California, but Rodell highlights the unique impression from Mariscos Rubén once trying its Sonoran style cuisine, food that Rubén and his wife Mirta Rodríguez have been serving for more than 30 years.
This type of recognition reiterates how the cuisine is one o the strong aspects of Baja California. Many tourists visit La Baja for the food. That is why the State Government authorities have promoted this sector to let our culture and cuisine be known abroad.
