Within the dessert section of Cine Tonalá you will find atypical proposals; such as amazing combinations of flavors, and among them a very special ice cream called "El lado oscuro" (The Dark Side).
The surprising thing is that the main ingredient of "El lado oscuro" is nothing less than 'Dragula,' a well-known beer from Insurgente brewery.
"Dragula" is one of the best beers from this internationally recognized brewery, a Stout oatmeal with notes of coffee, which comes alive on the menu of Cine Tonalá in the form of a delicious ice cream.
Its existence is not new, since last March, both the Cine Tonalá and the brewery talked about this collaboration directed by chef Hector Briceño. On that time it was only promoted to be part of a special event, but it seems that this particular ice cream was created to stay permanently on the menu.
"El lado oscuro" slightly keeps the taste of the beer with a creamy and sweet consistency, almost eliminating the alcohol proof, and is served in a little biscuit.
If you want to discover a new way to drink/eat a "Dragula", you know where you can find the right option.

If the ice cream doesn't convince you, there are other proposals in the menu, such as the "Naranja mecánica" (Clockwork Orange), a flan with a bit of beet, carrot bread and mango ice cream, or even something more classic such as a Smore with a cover of flamed Marshmallow a la Cine Tonalá.
The next time you go to Cine Tonalá do not forget to order one of these desserts, which will surely surprise you as much as me.
