TIJUANA - Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente announced on Tuesday morning via their official website that Alfredo "Chango" Moreno will once again be part of the club. Xolos continue to build their squad heading
into the Apertura 2014, Moreno joins Juan Arango as the team's new signings.
Tijuana fans will remember Moreno as he was a huge part of the 2012 squad that won the league championship. He will look to form a striking partnership with country-man Dario Benedetto. Although born in Argentina, Alfredo Moreno will not take up one of the five foreigner spots due to the fact he is already a naturalized Mexican citizen.
Moreno arrives to Tijuana after having helped Veracruz avoid relegation. Veracruz are going through some rebuilding of their own, just like Xolos. Just yesterday their manager Jose Luis Sanchez Solo "El Chelis" announced via Twitter that he was no longer the manager. The club directors are also negotiating the possible sell of Angel Reyna to Chivas of Guadalajara.
He arrived in Mexican soccer in 2000 and has spent the majority of his career in Mexico. "Chango" Moreno did spend a few seasons in China and his native Argentina, but always found a way back into Mexican soccer. With his 341 goals in Mexico's first division, he is the foreigner with the most goals scored still active.
