Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda inaugurated the El Sauzal Road Node, an important project to modernize the road infrastructure of Ensenada which is part of the projects to transform mobility in Baja California, part of the RESPIRA program.

With an investment of 266.7 million pesos, this node will benefit around 250,000 residents and the daily traffic flow of 78,000 vehicles, providing relief to traffic and improving crossings, Governor Marina del Pilar said.

"In all of our state, we have projects of this level and when we use public resources with honesty, these are the results," the governor said.

She explained that the El Sauzal Road Node is located in the intersection of Federal Highway No. 3 and the Tijuana-Ensenada Highway, and its opening will allow for the solution of serious operational flaws and traffic issues that were part of this area, she said.

This project consists of two vehicular bridges, one over the highway and another one in direction to Tecate, with entrance and exit ramps to Ensenada, Tijuana, and the port of El Sauzal. This project not only expands road capacity, but also allows for the optimization of flow and traffic safety, she explained.

"We are doing public projects as never before in the history of our state; we are working with the upcoming government as of this moment because more projects are coming for Baja California, as investments keep coming," she added.

Marina del Pilar stressed that throughout this construction process, the node was in operation without interruptions avoiding affecting most users.

The project was carried out by the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Urban Development, and Territory Redesign (SIDURT) between July 2023 and September 2024. It included the installation of 450 tons of steel and the pouring of 15,106 cubic meters of concrete, guaranteeing structure durability and resistance.

These new roads are designed to withstand traffic in peak hours which reaches 90,000 vehicles, of which more than 15% represent freight, considerably improving vehicular traffic flow and reducing traveling times.

With this infrastructure inauguration, Baja California consolidates itself as a state committed to road modernization and economic development, improving connections between main cities and facilitating access to the port of Ensenada and Valle de Guadalupe, key areas for commerce and tourism in the region.

The RESPIRA Program is an initiative by Governor Marina del Pilar to transform mobility in Baja California, guaranteeing safer and more efficient routes.
