The value of the American dollar has experienced a significant increase in the last few days, reaching 20.20 pesos per unit, a number that has caused alarm among people, especially in Mexico's border region. This increase has caused concern in residents and merchants who depend on constant currency exchanges.

Exchange shops in Tijuana
Yesterday in Calexico, an exchange shop reported the dollar being sold at more than 19 pesos, something that has not happened in Tijuana. San Diego Red went to several different establishments and confirmed that in four exchange shops at the San Ysidro port of entry, the highest price was 18.70 pesos per dollar. This price was found in an exchange shop located in Bulevar Agua Caliente and Calle 11.
Another exchange shop in Plaza West Fargo was selling dollars at 18.65 pesos, while the third one, also in Bulevar Agua Caliente, sold them at 18.59 pesos. Despite these fees, it should be noted that banks have even higher prices.

Today, the dollar-peso exchange rate in banks and government agencies show significant variations. For example, Citibanamex is selling dollars at 20.20 pesos, while BBVA Bancomer sells it at 19.95 pesos. Regarding Bank of America, the price is 20.53 pesos, while the official exchange rate in the Bank of Mexico for interbank operations of 48 hours is 19.375 pesos.
