Overwhelming! Canelo Álvarez triumphs against Tijuana native Jaime Munguía

The Jalisco native showed his great experience on the ring, Munguía learned an important lesson

Tijuana native Jaime Munguía was defeated by current middleweight champion Saúl "El Canelo" Álvarez during tonight's fight at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

After 12 rounds, the overwhelming performance by both fighters unleashed dynamite on the ring and though Munguía was able to surpass him during the first rounds, it was Canelo's experience, speed, and technique that gave him the advantage in the long run.

Rated as quite equal at the beginning, the fight gave an abrupt twist on the 3rd round when Canelo strongly connected a punch against Munguía sending him against the ropes. From then on, he would set the rhythm of the fight.

Trying to overcome his struggle bravely, Munguía made a good impression with his performance, which is a lesson that will help him throughout his career. Canelo said that he felt proud of his opponent's performance.

During this fight, Canelo was hit with several different combinations, but the low balance and Munguía's slowness made Canelo the eventual winner.

In the end, Saúl kept his belt and said that, just like the audience demands, he can now ask for whatever he wants saying that he is the best fighter right now and that he feels proud of being Mexican.
