According to weather forecasts, it is expected that February will begin with cold and rainy conditions in the region. Two cold fronts are forecasted to cause rain from February 1 to February 8.

Chances are currently between 6 and 8 days of rain, which is why Civil Protection has issued several recommendations in order to safeguard Tijuana natives' lives.

Authorities have been monitoring this weather phenomenon that could cause up to 2 inches of rain in the city in order to face it with all necessary measure including school suspensions.

Recommendations by Civil Protection

Miguel Ángel Ceballos Ramírez, head of the Municipal Agency of Civil Protection, stated that they are monitoring this weather condition to carry out preventive measures as the storm nears, and shared the following tips:

• Protect children, seniors, and people sensitive to weather changes.
• Keep an eye on cables and electrical wiring that could fall.
• If leaving home, do it with caution.
• Avoid crossing streams by car or walking.
• If you live in a risk area, report any incident to the emergency hotline or mobile apps.
• Keep an eye on statements and announcements by this agency issued in the following days.

Critical areas in Tijuana during rainy season

If you are located in any of these high risk areas, it is recommended that you do not leave your home to avoid any type of accident.

• Senador Monzón (Obrera), risk of dragging of people and vehicles.

• Colonia Lagunitas, floods and water currents.

• Cañón Johnson, fast water descents.

• La Choza, floods.

• Cañón del Alacrán, dragging of solids, people, and vehicles.

In case of any emergencies, call 9-1-1. Remember that if your home is in any risk area, you can go to any of the temporary shelters that will be opened in the region.
