Boy in Tijuana asks police for help to save his mother from his father's abuse

The man who was beating this woman was arrested once the police arrived

The Municipal Police arrived at a sad scene of domestic violence yesterday, Tuesday, August 8, when a 12-year-old boy arrived at the Regional Southern Command Headquarters "Margarito Saldaña" in Tijuana looking for help. The minor reported that his mother was being abused by his father at home, located in Colonia Leandro Valle.

Once at the scene, agents witnessed through the window how a woman was desperately asking for help, claiming that she was being held against her will and that her abuser was out in the yard. Acting quickly, officers arrested 35-year-old Óscar "N", a native from Michoacan.

Abuser was in possession of firearms

The individual was arrested carrying a knife and a .38 caliber revolver, loaded with six cartridges.

Officers managed to free the woman, who had been locked up in her room, and she told them that her partner had previously threatened her with a knife and had physically abused her in multiple occasions.

Following procedures, agents ensured the physical safety of the woman and child, who received immediate care. In addition, specialized protocols were implemented regarding intervention and assistance for domestic violence and gender cases, including specialized units and tools, such as the Botón Morado application.

As such, cooperation was established with several different organizations that support victims of violence and the State Attorney General’s Office to ensure the proper legal intervention regarding the arrested abuser.
