Amazing flavor of small adobada taco by “El Tejabán” surprises in Tijuana

Chef Danny also tried a carne asada taco with a great salsa

On this episode of Una Mordida Tacos Tijuana, our host Chef Danny Betancourt went to “El Tejabán” located at C. Murua 16, Fernández. On this occasion he tried two tacos: a carne asada taco priced at $1.15 dollars ($23 pesos) and an adobada taco priced at $0.90 dollars ($18 pesos).

Adobada Taco

This taco has adobada meat, onion, cilantro, guacamole, and is served on two packaged corn tortillas. The avocado practically covered the entire meat and the tortillas had the typical packaged-tortilla size which Chef Danny describes as “for two bites”.

Our host was surprised due to two things: the spicy salsa and the adobada flavor. Despite the fact that the meat’s color was a little pale, which usually means it doesn’t have a good flavor, on this occasion, the meat told Chef Danny to “shut up” and showed him its good adobo flavor touches. This is why this taco gets a rating of 8.0.

Carne Asada Taco

This taco has carne asada (grilled beef), guacamole, onion, cilantro, salsa, and is served on two packaged corn tortillas. Something to note about this taco and the previous one was the great amount of guacamole that was served. The salsa wasn’t the typical huevona sauce which is usually served on these tacos.

When he took his first bite, Chef Danny said that this wasn’t the usual salsa, but a charred sauce with a great flavor. The meat also had a great flavor as it was marinated and was seasoned with salt and pepper. The guacamole wasn’t completely avocado flesh, which is why Chef Danny said that it was a passable hybrid since it wasn’t completely watery guacamole. The protein was also overcooked and our host would have liked it if the tortilla had been handmade or if it had been bigger. This is why this taco gets a rating of 8.3.

Price: $1.15 dollars ($23 pesos)
