Though Tijuana is a renowned city, there are still things that you can learn about this border community and Denitza García of Baja Window to the South presented several facts.

Tijuana is located in the Mexican Pacific coast and it is the second most popular city in Mexico. Tijuana shares a 15 mile border with the US city of San Diego. It is the biggest metropolitan area in southern California and more than 15 million people cross the border every year from and to both Mexico and the US. It is one of the fastest growing metropolitan areas, and it is classified as high sufficiency global city.

At the beginning of the 21st century, Tijuana emerged as the capital of manufacturing of medical devices of North America. This is why, and for several other factors, medical tourism in this area is high and it is, as it is well known, the most visited border city in the world, becoming one of the greatest tourist destinations since 1880. Some interesting facts about this region are:

  • It is Latin America’s craft beer capital
  • There are more than 80 food trucks and gastro parks
  • The best tacos are made in this city

This is not all! It is also directly connected to the 32 states of Mexico and international destinations. Its gastronomy is also one of the key essential features since its dishes are one of Baja California’s main trends. Tourists claim that food is one of the main reasons why they visit Tijuana since they can pay in dollars almost everywhere.

Here are some of the places you can find in Tijuana:

  • Tijuana’s Cultural Center also known as CECUT
