Today, January 6, is Three Kings Day, and as part of the ritual, families assemble to split the well-known Rosca de Reyes, in which each family member chooses which piece to take and whether or not to bring a tiny child. Constructed of plastic, should keep the tradition going until February 12.
These bagels are pretty famous in Tijuana, and many local or commercial bakeries sell them. It's no wonder, however, that this is also one of Costco's most popular meals, with all of their bagels sold out by Wednesday, January 5. both in the Zona Rápida and Va Rápida branches.
There are Facebook groups where members publish the progress of lines attempting to reach the wholesale market, but the publications at the start of this month concentrated on updating the lines to order packed threads or obtain conventional threads.
On the afternoon of January 5, users of the Facebook group "How is the queue at Costco" claimed that all of the threads had sold out in both locations and that the staff would not be able to make any more until 2023. According to staff reports, users are still hoping for more, and while this isn't impossible, it is improbable.
I asked how many threads they had created for sale, and they informed me that they had made 16,000 threads for sale to the general public between January 2 and today. "Now they put toilet paper and drink bottles where the roses were in the afternoon," said one of the group's members.
For other people who wished to obtain a bagel from Costco, the situation was perplexing, and they blamed resellers who buy significant numbers of sweets (including bagels this season) and resale them at higher costs for those who can't go to the store or who didn't manage to buy said product.
