During the COVID-19 cases update in Baja California, the Secretary of Health, Alonso Perez Rico was questioned about the possibility of being reinfected by the current SARS-CoV-2 or another type of coronavirus.

In view of this, Perez Rico commented that specifically for a SARS-CoV-2, reinfection is not only possible but it has already been proven.

"The coronavirus has the same reinfection aspect: it has been proven that it gives you 90 days of antibodies, after which, in the end, they begin to decline. There are many studies regarding the antibodies, some say that they last a little longer, others that they last a little less. What we do have here is three to four proven cases of reinfection in Baja California with positive PCR," indicated the Secretary of Health, without giving more details.

As of this Wednesday, October 7, Baja California registers 19 thousand 963 accumulated positive cases and 3 thousand 602 deaths due to this disease.

Although there are already 12 thousand 234 patients recovered from COVID-19 in the state, there are still 343 active cases in the region, which are the ones that give strength to the pandemic.
