Ramen is a traditional Japanese dish that is mainly known among people who love all things related to the Japanese culture, but in recent years, this dish has become a normal meal in Tijuana, and Hokkaido Ramen proves it in the best way.
If you happen to love Ramen, this place is a mandatory stop.
We tried two types of ramen:
Sapporo Miso Ramen: also known as the one from the house, is an impressive bowl with a great variety of ingredients, which will leave you so full you might as well consider yourself a warrior if you finish it. The flavor is really soft, but it's not neccesarily a bad thing, because all the ingredients have a great flavor impact, and the taste of the broth is the perfect contrast.
Shoyu Ramen: a bowl that at first glance could be considered as a bit more traditional in terms of what everyone expects from it, but the truth is the taste is simply great, the noodles, the pork, and especially the broth were "on point". Totally recommended for those who don't feel like having a dish with too many ingredients.
Regardless of the ramen you choose, you can ask them to remove ingredients you don't like or order their Vegan option.
Hokkaido Ramen offers other dishes too, whether as an appetizer or as a full meal. In our case, we ordered the Kakuni Buns with pork belly, which stood out for its softness and incredible taste. The vegetables and sauce that accompany it make the experience more rewarding.
As we already mentioned, Hokkaido Ramen is an experience that every lover of this Japanese soup must live at least once. Compared to other ramen restaurants we have visited, this one wins them in terms of flavor. It is located at Calle Brasil 9115, Defensores de Baja California, Col. Madero (Cacho).
If you plan to go at night, there is a nice lighting on the terrace of the restaurant that will make you want to come back again.
