The image of the Catrina, created by José Guadalupe Posada in the early 20th century and popularized by muralist Diego Rivera, has become one of Mexico's most representative symbols. With its elegant poise, La Catrina has been reinterpreted many times throughout the years of the Day of the Dead celebrations.
That's why the Catrina Fest will take place on Saturday, November 16, at the Bellafer Collection Hotel & Resort in Playas de Rosarito. The 6th edition of this event, which pays tribute to Mexican culture, will combine art, gastronomy, fashion, and tradition in one place.
René Tamayo, fashion industry pioneer and modeling agent, is set to present an impressive project that will pay tribute to La Catrina, combining current trends with the wealth of Mexican traditions. "The catwalk will be a display of creativity in which attendees will be able to enjoy a unique visual experience (...) there will be 12 to 16 models on stage, who will change clothes two or three times.”
"We are at this point in logistics where we continue to speak with renowned designers because we want to present a completely renewed show," René Tamayo explained. He also said that some of the clothes in this parade will be part of the Carmen Viluz, Verónica Villa Santa, and Instituto Yaneem collections.
This is a family-friendly event where people of all ages are welcome. In addition to the catwalk and the fashion show, the public will be able to enjoy musical performances, artistic makeup, delicious gastronomy, and other surprises that will make this an unforgettable evening.
The Committee of Tourism and Conventions of Playas de Rosarito (COTUCO) has underscored that this is the first time that this festival will take place in the heart of the city. It is, after all, an excellent opportunity for all attendees to enjoy the beauty and hospitality this municipality offers.
Catrina Fest will take place on Saturday, November 16, at 6 PM in the Bellafer Collection Hotel & Resort at Av. Puntazul 10, in Aguamarina, Playas de Rosarito.
“I feel proud of representing our roots”: Milagros del Villar, participating model at Catrina Fest
This year, Milagros del Villar will be one of the models featured at Catrina Fest. She says this is the first time she will wear an outfit designed by Verónica Villa Santa at this event.
To tell you the truth, my expectations are high because the parade was always beautiful in previous years, but with this edition, there will be more sponsors. So this event promises to be even more impactful, with various activities and artistic proposals.
As a model, Milagros feels deeply connected with this festival and proudly represents Mexico. "I feel very proud because I am representing our land, and it is exciting to return to our cultures."
Milagros has invited the public to attend this singular event and said that participating in it has a very special meaning. "Since we are close to the US border, sometimes our traditions get lost, so returning to our roots and honoring the Day of the Dead is very nice."
I want to tell people to come here because they won't forget it; it is pretty beautiful. It is a show full of fashion, music, modeling, photography, gastronomy, art, and fireworks.
Photo expo: The visual art of “Amigos Tijuana”
A photo expo celebrating Catrinas in all of their glory will be featured at this event; this exhibition will be presented by "Amigos Tijuana," a team of photographers specialized in high-quality shoots.
This exhibition will be a visual and artistic tribute to the beauty and symbolism of the Day of the Dead.
Carlos Yorvick and his unique musical show
Internationally renowned artist Carlos Yorvick, whose music and acting talent led him to be part of the popular series "Hasta que te conocí," inspired by the life of Juan Gabriel and produced by Telemundo, will perform at this event!
With his talent and presence, Yorvick promises to create an atmosphere unlike any other. In addition, a second artistic performance will include a DJ and a fireworks light show by the Bellafer Collection Hotel & Resort.
The flavor of Baja California: Chef Ana Arvizu to offer a three-course dinner
COTUCO Rosarito has highlighted that this event's exceptional organization will allow attendees to enjoy gastronomic delicacies by Chef Ana Arvizu: a three-course dinner inspired by Baja California's most representative flavors.
"I don't want to tell you about the dishes because I would like it for it to be a surprise by the chef," said Alexis Gallardo, managing director of Bellafer Collection Hotel & Resort, who also claimed that this gastronomic experience will be one of the evening's main attractions.
The 6th edition of Catrina Fest promises to be an extraordinary event. It will be an evening in which fashion, art, and traditions will come together to create a unique and unforgettable atmosphere. This festival allows residents from both sides of the border to immerse themselves in Mexican identity and culture.
