Ismael Burgueño administration approves municipal fine and late fee forgiveness to benefit families in Tijuana

The City Hall of Tijuana led by Ismael Burgueño is looking to incentivize fiscal compliance in the city

During a recent meeting, the City Council of the 25th City Hall of Tijuana approved fine and late fee forgiveness for 2024 and previous fiscal years. This measure, promoted by the Ismael Burgueño Ruiz administration, has as a goal to aid the economy of Tijuana's families and make it easier for people to sort out their tax payments. Municipal Treasurer Víctor Alfonso Ramos Gómez underscored that this action is part of a greater effort to grant relief to taxpayers' financial burdens.

"We are sensitive to people's needs and within this framework we are hoping that it is easier for families to make their payments and lower their debt if they have any pending ones," he explained.

Ramos Gómez explained that this fiscal stimulus program will be in force from October 7 to December 31, 2024, which is why he encourages people with debt to take advantage of this municipal fine and late fee forgiveness.

The agreement establishes that, as long as it is valid, Tijuana natives that pay their Property Tax and their Property Purchase Tax will have 100% of their fines and late fees due to non-payment forgiven. This applies to 2024 and previous fiscal years.

Regarding taxpayers who pay Municipal Fees, 50% of fines and late fees generated during 2024 and previous fiscal years will be forgiven, as long as they are paid on December 31 at the latest.

In addition, people who are paying fines due to noncompliance of municipal rules in force during this agreement will have 50% of their fines and late fees generated before October 7, 2024 forgiven.

This agreement established that fee and late fee forgiveness is only valid if citizens pay the total of their debt and also fulfill all other provisions established in it.

Regarding fines for the noncompliance of municipal rules, infractions for parking vehicles in ramps and spots for people with disabilities will not be forgiven.

In addition, infractions caused by driving under the influence of alcohol or narcotics, speeding, parking trucks in public streets, among others, are also not part of this agreement. It has also been established that the forgiveness granted by this agreement cannot be added with any other discount.

With these actions, the 25th City Hall of Tijuana reaffirms its commitment to support the family economy of the people of Tijuana, making the payment of taxes much easier while strengthening the public treasury. This will be reflected in more projects and services to benefit the population, because the development and prosperity of Tijuana is everyone's responsibility.
