The governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, highlighted the financing programs “Tu idea, tu negocio”, “Emprende Tradicional”, and “Emprende Empresarial” which provide economic aid ranging from 10,000 to 500,000 pesos in order to strengthen the operation of legal Small and Medium-Sized Companies (PyMES) in the state, which allows businesses to invest in their working capital, equipment, and infrastructure.
The state governor invites all natural and legal entities who are interested with a company formally established in Baja California and registered at SAT to participate. These programs are managed through the Secretariat of Economy and Innovation (SEI) and work as follows:
- "Tu idea, tu negocio", grants credits ranging from 10,000 to 50,000 pesos, at 8% annual interest rate on unpaid balance, and the financing period is from 12 to 18 months according to the technical and financial analysis.
- "Emprende Tradicional", aid ranging from 51,000 to 200,000 pesos, at 8% annual interest rate and financing terms of 12, 18, or 24 months according to the project; the business must have been registered at SAT for at least 12 months.
- "Emprende Empresarial" offers an amount from 201,000 pesos to 500,000 pesos, with terms of 12 to 26 months, and a prime yearly rate of 8%, in businesses registered at SAT for at least 24 months.
According to SEI, from January to September 2024, 108 credits have been given equal to an amount of 37.5 million pesos, with 42% of these credits belonging to women. These resources have created 251 jobs, preserved 348 jobs, and generated 218 independent jobs.
Applications can be submitted at https://www.bajacalifornia.gob.mx/sei/ReactivaBC and at Citizen Assistance offices of the Secretariat of Economy and Innovation in different cities in the state, where you'll also be able to receive information and guidance about this program.
Among the requirements for interested entrepreneurs, one should submit the following forms: application, ID documents, proof of address, business photographs, tax license, tax return, bank account statements, quote, and power of attorney.
One can also visit SEI offices located in Mexicali at Centro Comercial La Plazita, in Tijuana at Consorcio Tecnológico, in Ensenada and Rosarito at Centro de Gobierno, in Tecate at Blvd. Defensores 53, Col. La Viñita, in San Felipe at the office in Mar de Cortés 614 in La Placita, and in San Quintín at Plaza Melina, located in Calle Benito Juárez 108.
