The governor reaffirmed her commitment with education in Baja California

The governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, reaffirmed her commitment with education in Baja California by delivering scholarships during the welcoming ceremony of 1,962 newly enrolled students at Universidad Tecnológica de Tijuana (UTT).

During her speech at UTT Campus Tijuana facilities, the governor pointed out that this is the start of a generation of young people who are not being left behind, as scholarships are a necessary tool to achieve their dreams.

What you’re studying is what all companies in Baja California are looking for. The period when we were a cheap workforce are over, today I can tell the world proudly of the talent we have in the state ”, the governor said regarding the UTT academic programs with majors that are revolutionizing the world.

She underscored that currently Baja California is the state with the most growth, development, and best wages as well as lowest unemployment in the country, which is why global big companies are turning to check out the state and its labor talent.

For his part, the rector of UTT, Salvador Morales Riubí, highlighted the boost that the state administration is giving to education by allowing 98% of students who are part of this institution to be the first ones in their families to study a university major.

He thanked the support of the governor because never had so many students been admitted in a selection process and thanks to the budgetary efforts carried out, teacher’s building #6 will be finished and work for a major in gastronomy will formally begin.

For this major enrollment call, UTT offered for the first time the Gastronomy major at campus Tijuana where 131 students, alongside 4,969 students from other 17 majors that are being offered by institution were enrolled. All of them will now forge their path towards their desired labor area.

Work of teachers at UTT has been carried out for 26 years, which has allowed for an educational model that is 70% practical and 30% theoretical for thousands of young people at this institution, which has allowed it to issue around 22,000 diplomas and bachelor’s degree and engineering graduates.
