Seismic activity in California has been very frequent in the last few days. In the morning of August 14, 2024, the US Geological Survey detected two earthquakes.
The first one occurred at 6:10 AM in Salton City, Imperial County, with a magnitude of 3.2. The second one was recorded just 8 minutes later in Pinnacles, California, with a magnitude of 2.9. So far, no damages or injuries have been reported.
Seismologist warns about increase of earthquakes in California
Despite this, a seismologist has warned about the increase in seismic activity in California after a significant 4.4 magnitude earthquake was registered on Monday in Los Angeles. The expert claims that this region has had more earthquakes in 2024 than in the last 20 years.

The 4.4 magnitude earthquake on Monday had its epicenter around Highland Park neighborhood in LA and it originated from the faults system in Puente Hills. Though no significant damages happened, it occurred at least one week after a 5.2 magnitude earthquake occurred near Bakersfield.

Crouch down: Get down to the floor on your hands and knees.
Cover yourself: Shelter yourself under a resistant table or against an interior wall.
Hold on: Firmly grasp your shelter with your hand to keep it above you.
