Still winning! Alexa Moreno, Baja Californian gymnast, shines on Vogue Mexico cover

At the end of 2023, the athlete underwent knee surgery and now she is ready to compete in the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics

Alexa Moreno is one amazing source of pride for Baja California. She was born in Mexicali and has become one of Mexico's most outstanding gymnasts due to her exemplary career that has allowed her to compete in the Summer Olympics for third time in a row, this time in Paris 2024.

On this occasion, this top athlete continues to shine after being chosen as the star of the most recent cover of one of popular culture's most prestigious magazine: Vogue Mexico.

In an interview, Alexa Moreno talked about her triumphs, personal challenges, and the path that has taken her to become an icon of artistic gymnastics.

The Mexicali native shared several details about her life, for example, she spoke about her recovery after undergoing knee surgery in November 2023 which highlights her determination and focus as she prepares for what may be her last participation in the Olympics.

Moreno also revealed some of her dreams outside the sporting world and the challenges she has faced during her professional career. For example, in the 2016 Río Summer Olympics she faced off against people criticizing her physical build which made her temporarily retire. "I came back to do gymnastics for myself, and I have always done it for myself," she said.

Thanks to her resilience and love for gymnastics, she came back with more determination than ever becoming a prime example of improvement and discipline.

She has won several different recognitions throughout her career including a Bronze Medal in the 2018 Artistic Gymnastics World Championship and 4th place at the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics on vault jumping. With these and more accomplishments, Alexa Moreno has shown that she is one of Mexico's most outstanding athletes.

Her dedication and success were recognized by the National Sporting Award in 2019 and the Sporting Merit Medal by the Chamber of Deputies, among others.

Recently she was celebrated with her own Mattel "Barbie" doll, with the brand recognizing that her determination and strength inspire girls to follow their dreams of becoming great athletes.

Alexa Moreno has established herself as one of the best gymnasts in the history of Mexican sports. Her inspiring story and charisma have made her a role model for many girls and women.
