The governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, led the launch of the first stage of the paving of Colonia Independencia in order elevate the quality of life of people who travel and live in this area, as part of the actions to recover traffic flow in Mexicali.
The state governor said that this paving is a joint effort between the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Urban Development, and Territory Redesign (SIDURT), the Urbanization Board, and residents of Colonia Independencia.
She explained that, included in this paving program, there are projects that have been established due to citizens paying their property tax as a result of the coordinated work between the government of Baja California and the Municipal Administration of Mexicali, led by Norma Alicia Bustamante Martínez.
"We are working in several different neighborhoods in Mexicali and, in this case, we are here to supervise these projects. This is because this is one of the neighborhoods that pays their property taxes the most. Historically, Colonia Independencia is one of those neighborhoods that always pays in time," Governor Marina del Pilar stated.
On this first stage, roads Pablo Rivera, Víctor Rosales, and José María Jiménez are planned with an investment of around 7 million pesos to restore 1,844 lineal meters, Governor Ávila Olmeda explained.
100% of the work was completed at Cuauhtémoc Norte and work is about to begin in Alamitos and Cuauhtémoc Sur. "With these projects, more than 4,300 lineal meters have been repaired, benefiting thousands of Cachanillas and their families," she said.
The neighborhoods that have paid their property taxes the most are Independencia, Prohogar, Jardines del Lago, Conjunto Urbano Esperanza, Montecarlo, Segunda Sección, Villafontana, San Marcos, Santa Mónica, and Carbajal, Marina del Pilar explained.
The governor said that in order to aid in the wellbeing of the population, since the beginning of her administration she agreed on a paving program with the mayor of Mexicali in order to positively impact more neighborhoods in the state capital through a collaborative budget.
