Baja California is a state whose municipalities are connected through several highways which have toll booths that charge so that they can be used, and such is the case with the El Hongo booth.
Return of payment at El Hongo toll booth is announced
In a post made by the Secretariat of Tourism of Baja California, it was revealed that the El Hongo toll booth, located in the La Rumorosa-Tecate highway, will resume activities.
The statement reads:
The technical and operational emergency at the El Hongo toll booth in the La Rumorosa-Tecate highway has been overcome.
It was explained that at 12:00:01 AM on May 27, 2024, the free access of vehicles through this toll booth will be suspended. It should be noted that this toll booth collapsed after being hit by a heavy freight vehicle with steel bars in July 2023.
After the accident, reconstruction work was carried out and it was because of these repairs that people, from residents to tourists, were allowed free access. This month, as the repairs have concluded, regular toll activities for vehicles will resume.
Regarding the price of this toll booth, prices will remain the same as they were when the accident occurred.
