Travel alert to Mexico issued

However, this mugging ended with the tourists being killed by criminals. As such, Australia, which disapproves of the crime that is currently ongoing in Mexico, will maintain its travel alert that it issued on May 5.

According to the Australian government, in Mexico there is a threat of violent crimes, which is why they are asking Australian citizens not to visit. This is mainly for the following areas: Durango, Guerrero, Michoacán, the mountains of Sierra Madre Occidental, Sinaloa, Sonora, Tamaulipas, and Zacatecas.

"In Mexico, there is an elevated risk of getting involved in violent crimes such as homicides, armed robbery, sexual assault, and kidnapping. It is recommended to avoid traveling at night outside of the main cities. Violence linked to drug trafficking is an extensive problem," it was said on the embassy's website.

One last goodbye

On Sunday, May 5, the surfing community of Rosarito and Ensenada assembled in San Miguel beach, in the outskirts of Ensenada, to carry out a ceremony to honor the memory of the two Australian Robinson brothers and American Jack Carter.

Several surfers, both men and women, got into the sea with flower arrangements. Once deep in the sea, they held hands while forming a circle and threw their flower tributes into the water. In addition, other citizens got together to demand justice and security in the region's beaches.
