The construction of the elevated viaduct that will connect the Tijuana International Airport "Abelardo L. Rodríguez" with the Playas de Tijuana delegation will have great benefits for all Tijuana natives and foreigners that visit the city, according to mayor Montserrat Caballero Ramírez.
The elevated viaduct of Tijuana will decrease driving traveling times and greenhouse gas emissions.
Economic impact studies show that the border region earned less due to the waiting times of vehicles at the port of entry and created air pollution and other environmental problems, according to the California State Transportation Agency.
The construction of the elevated viaduct of Tijuana will allow for the improvement of the connection between the Tijuana International Airport, the San Ysidro/Puerta México border crossing, and Playas de Tijuana as it will save time by 55.26%, which represents 12 minutes of time saved on a light vehicle trip.
It will provide economic benefits, reduce polluting emissions, and speed up traveling by cars, reducing traffic and making trading of goods much easier.

It is a more sustainable and efficient option that strengthens tourism and the economy of Baja California.
The complete project will have ascent and descent ramps, two subterranean tunnels, the "Matadero" bridge, the "Emiliano Zapata" bridge, four viaducts, two false tunnels, and a roundabout.
The President of Mexico prioritizes the construction of the viaduct
Through a decree, the federal government expropriated a surface of 6,639.09 square meters, for a public utility motive, to build this project, according to what was published on the Official Diary of the Federation (DOF).
In the last few weeks, some families were evicted from their homes as certain areas in the city that connect Playas with Downtown will be used to safeguard the machinery required for the construction of the viaduct.
Due to discontent from some citizens, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador spoke about this and highlighted that they are proceeding legally regarding these manifestations of discontent and constitutional protections. He reiterated that the projects are of public interest and, as such, they are meant to benefit the community.
López Obrador highlighted the importance of the project that represents an investment of around 10,000 million pesos for Tijuana and said that the access to the viaduct will be completely free for all citizens and it will contribute significantly to the solution of traffic issues in the region.
