Marina del Pilar strengthens agricultural activities in Baja California

With the inauguration of a new lab, there will be accurate studies that will allow producers to make the best decisions for free in order to increase productivity

The governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, inaugurated the lab at the Agribusiness and Agrifood Center of Training, Investigation, and Innovation (CCIAA) whose goal is to strengthen support actions for the Baja Californian countryside and deliver economic aid to small agricultural producers.

In her speech during this inauguration, the state governor recognized agriculture as the essential vocation of Baja California, as it is not just a key activity for the development of the economy but also of culture, not to mention that it is used to support the livelihood of all humanity.

Marina del Pilar stated that regions of the state like Valle de Mexicali and San Quintin cannot be understood without their agricultural actions, which have forged economic and social growth in the entire state of Baja California. In addition, they make a difference in the development of the entire state, which is why it is a priority for authorities.

In this context, she recognized the importance of the Baja California SADER Analysis Lab which, without any cost for producers, will "allow them to professionally analyze the fertility and health of our agricultural soil and analyze the salinity of water used for watering or humidity and the protein in the grain."

"In Baja California, we celebrate the strength and abundance that comes from Mother Earth with each new cycle, because we are a land blessed with nature where all ecosystems are possible and whose quality of soils allows us to provide the world with unique products that are only produced in Baja California. That's why it is fundamental that we continue to provide high technology to our fields such as the one offered by this lab and promote sustainable and inclusive rural development with greater access to credits and the creation of an agricultural market that allows us to trade without middlemen," Marina del Pilar said.

For his part, the Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development of Baja California, Juan Meléndrez Espinoza, explained that these analyses will allow farmers to develop a proper process of planting and harvesting, as they will be able to detect risks and opportunities.

He added that damage to land properties tend to risk production and represent a grave issue for the agricultural sector, which is why it is a feat for Governor Marina del Pilar and the President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, to create the National Network of Soil Laboratories that is dedicated to research the level of soil degradation in the country. It also represents the standardization of fully trustworthy methods and services that will improve producers' decisions.

Subsequently, Governor Marina del Pilar was present when 50 deliveries were made to 50 micro-businesses of the agrifood sector with checks of 25,000, 27,000, and 30,000 pesos, which amounts to around 1.5 million pesos. This investment benefits more than 284 rural producers so that they can enter with a greater advantage into markets in order to create development, aggregate value, and grow in the primary sector of the state.

The governor said that this aid demonstrates that the agricultural sector and state authorities continue to work together and are paying tribute to a noble age-old activity that honors previous generations and is the origin of all cultures, which is why she recognizes the commitment of all Baja Californian producers.
