Due to the damages caused by tropical storm Hilary in Baja California, Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda made a commitment to supervise prevention, protection, and assistance actions for the entire population. In a meeting with representatives from the government of Mexico, the proper weather forecasts were reviewed and actions were planned.

The state governor stated that, though Hilary has been declared a tropical storm, it is important not to lower one's guard as rain will be intense and winds will reach up to 100 kilometers per hour. She encouraged people to report any situation to the 911 emergency line to receive assistance from the appropriate authorities.

Marina del Pilar stated that the number of temporary shelters has been raised to 90 in order to assist the highest number of people. She explained that more than 100 people have been sheltered in Isla de Cedros and the port of San Felipe.

Governor Marina del Pilar thanked the support from the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA), the Secretariat of the Navy (SEMAR), the National Commission of Water (CONAGUA), and the Federal Commission of Electricity (CFE) as they deployed actions to protect all families.

In addition, she acknowledged all people who are part of emergency assistance groups for their work in taking care of the safety of all Baja Californian families as the storm raged on.

The governor encouraged society to continue following safety measures, to not travel through the state's highways, and to protect their homes from wind and rain.

She also issued a statement of solidarity with the people of Baja California Sur and Governor Víctor Manuel Castro Cosío due to the incidents that occurred due to Hurricane Hilary.

Subsequently, Marina del Pilar went to several communities in the city of Mexicali, alongside the director of the State Commission of Public Utilities of Mexicali (CESPM), Armando Carrazo, in order to review actions meant to address rain drainage issues and reduce the risk of flooding.
