La Chinesca is designated first "Magical Neighborhood of Mexico" during Marina del Pilar administration

La Chinesca, located in Mexicali, represents an important place in the identity of this municipality

The governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar, made official the designation of La Chinesca in the city of Mexicali as the first Barrio Mágico de México (Magical Neighborhood of Mexico).

Alongside the Ambassador of China in Mexico, Zhang Run, and the Secretary of Tourism of Mexico, Miguel Torruco Marqués, and after a series of analysis to make sure that La Chinesca could be classified as "Barrio Mágico de México", this designation was finally made for one of the most important foreign communities in the state.

Governor Marina del Pilar stated that after an initial investment of 25 million pesos made when she was mayor of this municipality, and restorations in several different roads, La Chinesca, an important place in the capital, alongside Mexicali Rose, are ready to welcome thousands of national and foreign tourists.

Besides these investments, there are also the ones scheduled for 2024, where a massive mural painting program and facade restorations will take place; their goal is to contribute to the promotion of La Chinesca internationally.

From the traditional red color, symbol of happiness, success, and a bright future, to the classic paper lamps and good luck dragons, they all perfectly reflect a fragment of the immensity of Chinese culture.

The state governor also thanked the mayor of Mexicali, Norma Bustamante, for making the creation of Museo Work easier, which exhibits the development of the popular Chinese food that is made in the state capital. In addition, she emphasized the construction of the access threshold of La Chinesca in Avenida Juárez and also highlighted the importance of November 12 as China Day in Mexicali. This day's goal is to highlight the great cultural contribution that China has made in Baja California.

From the state government, we continue to work in public projects such as La Chinesca, restoring streets and sidewalks, installing electrical underground services, in order to improve the urban image of Juárez, Reforma, and Azueta Streets. In addition, we created important touristic products such as the Cultural Streetcar that tours the main buildings and spots in the city's Historic Downtown, with the participation of hundreds of kids every day during the school period.

The governor stated that this and other actions, in coordination with the Secretariat of Tourism of Mexico, are the result of the efforts and dedication of thousands of people who have worked to see this community in a first-rate stage in the city, claiming that the wealth of La Chinesca offers a unique experience that can only be seen in Baja California.
