Governor Marina del Pilar announces new flight between Baja California and Arizona

The state governor thanked the US airline for trusting in Baja California as a destination for thousands of travelers

Governor Marina del Pilar met with international companies in Washington, D.C., as part of her strategy to promote touristic development on both sides of the border. As such, she announced a new project: a flight between Phoenix, Arizona, and Tijuana, Baja California, through American Airlines.

At this meeting, international companies such as Club Med, Hilton, Brand USA, Marriott International, and representing the meeting, convention, and event industry, Maritz Global Events, were all present. They were also interested in setting up or expanding operations in the state due to the results they have obtained in coordination with the government of Baja California.

The governor gave as an example the expansion of Marriott International, confirmation of events for 2024, and the creation of a strategic alliance to promote together the binational central mega region of southern California and Baja California.

Regarding this new flight by American Airlines, the governor highlighted the work by the Secretariat of Tourism of Baja California, led by Miguel Aguíñiga Rodríguez, for giving these historical results in strengthening the aerial connection of Baja California and thanked the airlines for trusting the state as a destination for thousands of travelers.

This new flight between Phoenix and Tijuana will begin operations in February 2024 and will connect the Tijuana International Airport "Abelardo L. Rodríguez" with Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, and it will be made by an Embraer 175 airplane with a capacity of 78 passengers.

The airline expressed their enthusiasm at being able to continue strengthening operations in Mexico, with Baja California being a destination that has become stronger regarding offering the best experiences to its visitors, especially in tourist sites whose traveler flow has grown in the last few years.

As such, Marina del Pilar stated that as part of the activities of economic promotion in New York, Washington D.C., and Arlington, an important action was taken to promote Baja California as an area that offers natural diverse spaces, culture, and a world-renowned gastronomy.

Aguíñiga Rodríguez thanked the ambassador of Mexico in the United States, Esteban Moctezuma Barragán, for letting them use the emblematic Mexican Culture Institute area in Washington to promote the gastronomic products of Baja California as well as to provide the culture of the state with a highly significant venue.

For her part, the governor reaffirmed her commitment in strengthening the flow of visitors that the state welcomes and to continue coordinating with Mexican and US authorities and all companies that are part of this value chain that represents sustenance and wellbeing for thousands of families.
