The governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, was warmly welcomed by the ambassador of Mexico in the United States, Esteban Moctezuma Barragán, alongside the deans of Universidad Autónoma de Baja California (UABC), Luis Enrique Palafox, and Fernando Leon García, of CETYS Universidad, to whom she announced new investments for Baja California in the aerospace industry. She also presented, in front of leaders of the semiconductor industry, the advantages that the state offers for its geographical position, supply chains, and the talent of its human capital.

This event began with a work meeting to attract investment in Washington D.C., where a dialogue was opened with the main semiconductor companies so that they become interested in investing in Baja California in key work elements such as assemblage, packaging, testing, and other processes such as design. The governor emphasized that another great logistic advantage offered by the state is the new installations for the semiconductor industry, as Baja California is the national leader on this matter. It is the only state that has three companies in this industry, which projects great future growth and with that the possibility of greater wellbeing for all workers.

At this meeting, key companies such as Intel, Infineon, Skyworks, Qualcomm, among others were present, as well as representatives of the University of Arizona. The latter two have had great presence and significant growth in Baja California, as they have found the proper conditions to move forward and expand their supply chains.

The presence of the President and CEO of the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA), John Neuffer, stood out as he highlighted the advantages that Baja California offers to manufacture them. On the other hand, Marina del Pilar had a council meeting with companies Collins Aerospace and Raytheon Technologies, which presented their latest investment projects in the aeronautical industry to the state governor, academic staff, and members of the Secretary of Economy and Innovation, led by Kurt Ignacio Honold Morales.

This investment, that will mainly benefit the municipality of Mexicali, will be revealed later by the company in charge. As such, Marina del Pilar reaffirmed her commitment to continue boosting and providing the necessary legal certainty in this area, since it has a great reputation in the Baja Californian industry and it is also the one that represents better opportunities for better jobs in the population.

Lastly, the governor thanked the government of Mexico led by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, as well as Moctezuma Barragán, for opening the doors of the Mexican embassy so that these meetings could take place. They also demonstrate that Baja California is at the forefront nationwide and represents a key place to understand the binational Mexico-US relation in the present and the future.
