New direct flight from Tijuana to Phoenix is announced

American Airlines announced that, starting in February 2024, Tijuana natives will be able to enjoy a direct flight to the border city of Phoenix, Arizona

In early 2024, Tijuana will have a direct flight to Phoenix, Arizona!

This was announced by American Airlines, who stated that starting on February 15, 2024 there will be a connection between the Tijuana International Airport (TIJ) and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX). This service will operate daily on an Embraer 175 airplane which has a capacity of 78 passengers.

The Vice President of Operations and Commercial for Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America of American Airlines, José A. Freig, stated that Tijuana will become the 26th destination of the company in this country, highlighting its commitment with Mexico.

As the US airline leader in Mexico, we are excited about becoming the only airline that will connect Tijuana with the United States, and to do this from our connection center in Phoenix, where our clients will have access to approximately 250 daily flights to 100 destinations in the winter.

Record operation in Cancun

On the other hand, American Airlines stated that during the upcoming winter, their biggest date scheduling will operate in Cancun, with up to 40 daily flights on peak days from 18 destinations in the United States.

This new service will include new seasonal flights from Pittsburgh (PIT), Nashville (BNA), and Cincinnati (CVG), as well as additional flights from Miami (MIA) and Charlotte (CLT). In addition, on November 5, American Airlines will increase from one to two their daily flights from Austin (AUS).

New destinations in Mexico from Dallas

American Airlines also recently announced that it will increase its winter flights from Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) to Acapulco (ACA), Huatulco (HUX), Puerto Vallarta (PVR), Los Cabos (SJD), Monterrey (MTY), Zacatecas (ZCL), and Zihuatanejo (ZIH).

With these additional flights, American Airlines will operate more than 720 peak weekly flights in Mexico during the winter season and will increase its capacity in the country by 8% compared to the previous year.
