Anime is one of the most popular Japanese pop culture exports that has become more and more popular throughout the years. Events focused on anime have also increased, where the creativity, imagination, and talent by attendants and exhibitors stand out.

Cosplay is a representation of an anime character where cosplayers dress up, fix their hairstyles, put on props and makeup and become almost identical to their favorite characters. Soon, an event at the Japanese Friendship Garden will bring two of these elements and more together.

This garden located at Balboa Park, San Diego, and Fangaea Con invite all anime and Japanese pop culture fans to attend the Otaku Smash Fest on September 16, where people of all ages will be able to enjoy an unforgettable afternoon surrounded by the wonderful landscapes of the Japanese Friendship Garden.

This celebration will have a cosplay competition, performances, music, food, an anime themed car show, and much more. Adults will be able to enjoy themselves by trying out beer and sake (a Japanese alcohol drink made of fermented rice) at the Beer and Sake Garden.

How can I attend?

General tickets will go on presale costing $25 dollars, with children 12 years of age or younger paying $15 dollars. The day of the event tickets will cost $35 dollars, while children’s tickets will cost $20 dollars:
