Ventana al Mar: New public walkway with a beach view in Rosarito is announced

The Ventana al Mar project contemplates the restoration of Abelardo L. Rodríguez park providing a luxurious space for all Rosarito natives so that they can see and have access to the beach

In order to create recreational public spaces for the whole family and take advantage of the natural beauty of its iconic beaches, the Municipal Administration of Playas de Rosarito announced a new walkway in the heart of this municipality.

The Ventana al Mar project will transform the classic Abelardo L. Rodríguez park, giving it several gardens, recreational spaces, and above all, beautiful views of the beach for all people. Phase 1 of this project will restore the Instituto Municipal de Arte y Cultura (Municipal Institute of Arts and Culture) (IMAC), by building two levels in a square, opening the view towards the beach, replacing the retaining wall to Costa Azul for staircases, creating a scene that highlights and takes advantage of the natural beauty of this municipality’s sunsets.

This open space will have gardens, renewed floors, and urban furniture: children’s playgrounds and sports equipment and machines will be located inside the park.

Phase 2 will have public plazas, a public lookout, restrooms, and a small skateboarding area. The slope of this property will be connected through dual role stairs with stands and ramps that allow for the universal access of this public space and to the beach.

In addition, the access to the beach from this area will have two street ends of 9.5 meters wide each. With the integration of expropriated properties, there will be an access of 99 lineal meters, creating the first public furnishing in the municipality that guarantees the right to access to the beach.

Both projects respect the principles of universal mobility, sustainable architecture, creation of community and social fabric without leaving anyone behind. This public space will have an area of 10,818 square meters for Rosarito natives to enjoy.

The municipal president, Araceli Brown Figueredo, announced this on social media, in the midst of the celebrations of the 28th anniversary of Playas de Rosarito becoming a municipality.
