The governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar, directly delivered Tarjetas Violeta (Violet Cards) and Tarjetas Con el Corazón para el Agua (Cards with Heart for Water) at Colonia Vista Encantada in the city of Tijuana, as part of the actions that are meant to benefit families who require prioritized assistance in the state.

During this event, Marina del Pilar stated that the goal of the government of Baja California, through the Secretariat of Wellbeing, is to end 2023 with more than 70,000 benefitted women statewide through the Violet Card program, which is why registering campaigns will begin for potential beneficiaries in the different municipalities of the state.

As such, she added that the Tarjeta Con el Corazón Para el Agua, which supports families with economic resources to pay for water, will be able to help around 30,0000 families in the state, with an aid of $1,800 pesos for families in the eastern coast and $1,000 pesos for Mexicali and the municipality of San Felipe.

The state governor explained that community centers are perfect spaces to find the heart of communities, which is why staff from the Secretariat of Wellbeing, led by Netzahualcóyotl Jáuregui Santillán, will be able to gather data and directly receive requests from people interested in being part of this benefit program that directly improves the quality of life of its participants.

"We came to check how women who are registered are being helped, to see how they are delivering the cards, and the benefits and workshops that this card provides such as balloon twisting, pastry making, and dressmaking so that those who are benefited from these cards can set up a business in addition to the card’s aid,” Marina del Pilar said, emphasizing that this aid’s purpose is also to empower women who have been victims of economic violence, giving them the opportunity of being self-sufficient and get out of places where they suffer abuse.

For his part, Jáuregui Santillán stated that the women who are aided by the Center of Justice for Women also have access to this aid, which not only consists of economic help, but also means to integrate them into the productive sector, which will allow them to have income to help their families, because sometimes women are the only ones who are supporting their families.
