Montserrat Caballero Ramírez, the mayor of Tijuana, announced an investment of almost 80 million pesos to acquire 11,672 LED lights which will illuminate 50% of the city.
This commitment, announced previously during meetings with neighborhood leaders, was fulfilled during the launch of the Kilómetros de Luz program in Cruz del Sur Street, in the Sánchez Taboada delegation, where more than 26 million pesos from the program’s total will be invested to install 3,981 lamps.
In addition, the mayor announced that with the strengthening of this program, new lights will be installed to completely cover the Presa Este, Presa Abelardo L. Rodríguez, and part of the Cerro Colorado delegations, actions that will be able to be carried out due to the transparency of the finances of the current government, stated mayor official Marcelo de Jesús Machain Servín.
The mayor spoke with neighbors to remind them that the projects of the 24th Municipal Administration are made so that their children arrive safely, so that their husbands can get to work at the factory at 4 or 5 AM with no problems, and so that ladies and students can arrive home at 7 PM with no issues; all of this so that the government can provide wellbeing to the working class.
“Today, some people say that I am afraid but those who live in Sánchez Taboada don’t know fear, and I perfectly know how a citizen lives, and those who don’t visit these popular neighborhoods don’t know and don’t understand,” she underscored.
That’s why, Caballero Ramírez claimed that she will take advantage of her stay at headquarters because she has the courage to work alongside these men without any fear and coordinated in security matters.
For his part, the Secretary of Territory, Urban, and Environmental Development (SDTUA), Enrique Bautista Corona, informed that the installation of new LED technology represents greater energy efficiency, more duration, quality of life, less environmental impact, reduction of light pollution, and savings in energy and resources.
