Being charged a commission for paying with a card is something that is common but it is an improper fee, as the consumer is in no obligation to pay it. There have been many cases where different places in Tijuana charge a commission and we are here to tell you how to report when these situations occur.

According to the Federal Law of Consumer Protection (LFPC), providers don’t have the authority to apply commercial coercive methods or abusive clauses, which is why when something like this happens, you must act immediately and put a stop to it.

When you’re charged, you must get in contact with the financial institution which the provider is a client of or with the National Commission for the Protection and Defense of Users of Financial Services (CONDUSEF). You must inform them about the establishment who charged you this extra commission or fee so that institutions can take the necessary measures, such as suspending their use of terminals as charging commissions is a violation of contract conditions.
