2023 has surprised many with cooler temperatures of what is usual in Tijuana and San Diego. While other parts of the world are facing unusually intense heatwaves, these areas in Mexico and the United States are experiencing cool weather.
Confirmation of this weather anomaly came from NASA, who showed a graph revealing that several weather anomalies have been occurring since November 2022 all the way until April 2023. The region of Baja California and California stand out as they are unusually cold in comparison with previous years.
Traditionally, a cold air mass coming from Canada and the United States arrives in Mexico, creating temperature drops and frosts in the north and center of the country in winter. However, this year, this cold weather has extended more than expected, leaving experts without a clear explanation for this particular anomaly.
Though monitoring systems have forecasted that temperatures will slightly increase in inner areas in the next few days, San Diego National Weather Service warns that the coast will remain stable at around 60°F.
The marine layer will also become shallower, allowing lower clouds not to spread as far inside. This means that it is implausible that the coast becomes clear in the next few days.
This means that besides enjoying temperatures that are lower than usual, it is expected that the weather remains cool and cloudy during the week of June 5 to June 12. Prepare to cover yourself a little bit more as we wait for warm weather to come.
