In Thursday’s morning press conference in Mexico City, the President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, claimed that the mayor of Tijuana, Montserrat Caballero Ramírez, is not alone and has his complete support.

Montserrat is not alone. She has our complete support.

The President of Mexico recalled that in the last few days, the mayor has been receiving threats, but he reiterated that, from his position as the head of Mexico, she is not alone and that she has his government’s complete support.

The mayor who governs this border city is an immigrant, from Oaxaca, an extraordinary, humble, hardworking, honest woman, who lately has been receiving threats. But I reiterate, she has our complete support.

Last week, a municipal bodyguard was wounded in Downtown Tijuana and several blankets with threats were placed in several spots in the city.
