Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, the governor of Baja California, stated that thanks to the coordination with the government of Mexico, in Baja California significant progress has been made regarding welfare which allows for a better quality of life in the state.

Alongside the Secretary of Wellfare of the Government of Mexico, Ariadna Montiel Reyes, Governor Marina del Pilar attended the ceremony of the establishment of the Committee Assembly of Banco del Bienestar, where she highlighted that recently the National Council of Evaluation of Social Development Policies (CONEVAL) revealed that Baja California has a poverty rate of 22.5%, against the 41.9% which is the national average, which puts the state among the lowest rates in the country.

In addition, Marina del Pilar stated that, according to numbers from this institution, extreme poverty rates are 1.5%, one of the lowest in the country.

“Our job in the state government is to redouble efforts to help that 1.5% of the population and guarantee that no family in Baja California lives in extreme poverty. That everyone has a foundation of welfare and development that allows them to evolve,” Marina del Pilar said.

As such, the governor highlighted that there is no better welfare policy than a dignified job and, because of that, she praised the 17,707 jobs that were registered at IMSS in January 2023. This number puts the state as the national leader and represents the highest number in the first month of a year since 2000.

“In the governments of the Fourth Transformation, we work hand in hand with comprehensive welfare. It must be made clear: nobody is going to be left behind or out. Because welfare and heart are sister words that go hand in hand. We cannot talk about true wellbeing if we don’t govern and work with our heart above all,” she said.

It should be noted that Ariadna Montiel Reyes, Secretary of Welfare of the Government of Mexico, recognized the willingness of the Government of Baja California to work together so that all people significantly increase their quality of life.

During the ceremony, where 1,000 cards were given to support seniors 65 years of age or older, Montiel Reyes spoke about the social aid that the government of Mexico delivers in coordination with the government of Baja California, and stated that Banco del Bienestar branches represent the commitment to be close to the community to provide benefits.

Montiel Reyes mentioned that currently hundreds of Banco del Bienestar branches are being built, which will allow for the delivery of aid in a constant manner without middlemen or third parties involved.

MEXICALI.- Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda commemorated Mexican Army Day, recalling the vital importance of this institution for national development, as military forces are born in society with the mission of protecting other people.

In addition, she pointed out that they came to be on February 19, 1913 for a mission: to defend democracy, the constitutional order, and sovereignty, while also assisting others in emergencies and working in citizen security matters.

"In our country, armed forces, as our President Andrés Manuel López Obrador says, are people in uniform defending the people,” she emphasized.
