The governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, stated that health mobile units managed to treat resident citizens in the 7 municipalities of the state who live in areas that lack sufficient health infrastructure.

The state governor highlighted that, so far in her administration, health mobile units have provided care 248,404 times, which is how people have had their health rights guaranteed for free. An example of this is the 428 seniors who have had cataracts diagnosed, which has allowed them to get completely free surgeries.

Marina del Pilar underscored that health is a priority for the government she leads, which is why she is working together with the Government of the President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, to develop sufficient health infrastructure to equip public hospitals. That way, residents who live in Baja California, regardless of whether they live in urban or rural areas, can get a medical consultation and receive appropriate treatment.

Regarding this, the Secretary of Health of Baja California, J. Adrián Medina Amarillas, highlighted that these Health Caravans consist of medical consultation units which provide services to the population; they make an assessment of people to find out their health status and risk factors, which leads the way to get potential treatments.

There is also a Clinic Laboratory unit, where clinical analysis is carried out which allows doctors to correctly determine the health status of a person, making early detection of several non-transmittable diseases possible.

There is also a unit to do free mammograms; these units have specialized equipment such analogous mammography and digital mammography, as well as telemedicine services through the internet in order to deliver study results in less than 24 hours.

Inside these health caravans, Medina Amarillas emphasized, X-rays and densitometry, electrocardiogram, and renal obstetric-pelvic ultrasound procedures are carried out. There are also vision exams, audiological checkups, psychological assistance, and dental health procedures.

In the cataract unit, seniors over 60 years of age are treated. They get a test and if they have this visual ailment, they get a corrective surgery free of charge, even if they are beneficiaries or have some kind of comorbidity.

The Secretary of Health announced that, between Tuesday, February 14 and Saturday, February 18, health mobile units will go to Fraccionamiento Valle de las Palmas in the eastern zone of Tijuana, which means that the residents living there will receive this benefit for free.
