San Diego County health authorities warned the population about the risk of going into the waters at Imperial Beach, La Jolla, Silver Strand, Ocean Beach, and Tijuana Sough coasts, after high levels of bacteria were detected in the water. Due to this, beach access has been closed.
This pollution is due to the wastewater coming from the Tijuana River, which became more pronounced after the heavy rain that occurred in the region.
After analyzing health state standards, beachgoers were recommended to avoid all kinds of activities such as swimming, surfing, or diving in the area for 72 hours after the rains.
Weather conditions will be accompanied by strong winds and high tides, with waves reaching up to 10 to 16 feet.
The ocean pollution problem has been ongoing for years and it is an issue that the governments of Tijuana and San Diego are trying to solve.
