The new secretary of Citizen Security of Baja California is General Leopoldo Aguilar Durán, who substituted General Gilberto Landeros Briseño. The governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda thanked Landeros for his efforts and the results obtained throughout 2022 as the head of the agency whose goal is to work for the peace and wellbeing of Baja Californian families.

General Aguilar Durán has extensive experience in the military sector and extensive knowledge in the police sector, as he has collaborated with the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA) for 34 uninterrupted years, carrying out several different roles and receiving several different awards such as a Performance Distinction, the Legion of Honor, Merit in the Campaign Against Drug Trafficking, and a Special Distinction for his results in the Master’s of Security and National Defense which took place in the Dominican Republic.

In addition, he has studied three different Master’s regarding Security and National Defense, as well as a degree in Military Administration and a Command Course at the Superior School of War.

He also has taken several courses at the Heroic Military College which include parachuting, superior war studies, public and military administration, psychological operations, and civilian matters; the last one is taught by the United States Army.

The governor highlighted that he is a military man with extensive experience and knowledge regarding citizen security who has the skills to design the necessary strategies to guarantee peace in the state of Baja California.

For his part, General Aguilar Durán emphasized that he will boost the security strategy under the coordination of Governor Marina del Pilar, intelligence and information work will be promoted to strengthen operative actions and the coordination with municipal and federal organizations, and actions will be developed regarding social proximity.
