San Diego Bay Parade of Lights is canceled due to forecasted storm on Sunday

The second date on December 18 will still take place

Christmas events are some of the most awaited events by people; in San Diego, there are several that have taken place in the last few weeks, while some are just about to begin this weekend. One example of these events is San Diego Bay Parade of Lights where boats full of lights parade around the county bay.

Coastguards met up with the organizers of this parade and decided to cancel it, prioritizing the security of their crews and boat drivers as weather conditions forecasted could potentially put people at risk, something that was considered of the greatest concern.

“The first San Diego Bay Parade of Lights (December 11th) has been cancelled by the coast guard due to a storm with high winds coming to San Diego on Sunday. The safety of our boaters is of the upmost concern for us. We want everyone to be able to celebrate this season safely,” the statement on their official Facebook page reads.

According to weather reports, a storm with high winds is expected, which can make the show dangerous for participants. It should be noted that the FantaSEA on the Bay parade will still take place on Sunday, December 18, 2022, as the second (and so far, only) date. Many visitors ready to celebrate and enjoy the Christmas lights are expected on this day.
