Damage assessment carried out in Tijuana’s bridges after 6.2 magnitude earthquake in Baja California

Civil Protection is currently assessing the main bridges of the city

The morning of November 22, 2022, an earthquake rocked the state of Baja California. Though the earthquake was not felt in Tijuana, it was perceived in Ensenada and Mexicali, despite the fact that it occurred in San Quintin. The earthquake was initially classified as a 6.0 on the Richet magnitude scale, before being changed to a 6.2.

For their part, Tijuana’s Civil Protection is currently evaluating the main bridges in the city at Eastern and Western Vía Rápida.

“The protocolary evacuation at the Municipal Palace and Civil Courts were carried out. In addition, an ocular inspection was carried out at the General Hospital, and on the main bridges of the city on Eastern and Western Vía Rápida,” they stated on their official Facebook page.

It should be noted that, so far, no aftershocks or damages related to the earthquake have been reported, which is why all activities have resumed. However, people were recommended to remain cautious and to have an emergency aid kit bag.

Similarly, people were asked to watch out for the Civil Protection of Tijuana’s social media pages so that they can be aware of recommendations issued by official authorities.
