Tijuana native football player 20-year-old Víctor “Toro” Guzmán, alongside 14 other young Mexican players, will support the national football team as a sparring for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The young man who currently plays for the Tijuana Xolos team debuted in 2020 and has played in more than 60 matches, consolidating himself as a skillful defensive midfielder.
Guzmán’s selection was revealed on the national football team’s social media pages: “Together with the Mexico of my Life. Very proudly we present to you our sparrings that will accompany us to work in Qatar,” they shared.
“I saw myself in the World Cup, but not at 20 years old, though I’m not among the first 26 players, the fact that I’m taken into account for any position is very fulfilling,” he said in an interview he shared on the Tijuana Xolos Facebook page.
Similarly, Xolos also seized the opportunity to boast about this fact. On social media, they wrote: “Let’s go, Toro, let’s go, Mexico!”.
Sparrings are very important for the National Football Team, as they train with professional football members of the team. Usually only between 15 to 22 players are chosen, but for this World Cup there will only be 15.
