State Forces arrest six people in possession of firearms in Tijuana and Mexicali

The detainees were carrying eight firearms of different calibers, as well as 110 useful cartridges which were seized

Agents of the Citizen Security State Forces (FESC) carried out operations in several different areas of Mexicali and Tijuana, where they managed to detain six people that were transporting weapons of different calibers, as well as 110 useful cartridges. It should be noted that during these operations that resulted in these people being arrested, no shots occurred and no civilian was harmed.

The first intervention occurred at Gran Canaria Avenue, between Numantinos and Gilos Avenue, in Fraccionamiento Hacienda de Castilla in Mexicali. Here, a 27-year-old man, identified as Edgar “N”, a Chiapas native, was driving a gray Nissan Versa vehicle where he was transporting several firearms.

When the vehicle was inspected, officers located inside the trunk a .45 caliber long rifle firearm loaded with 28 useful cartridges of the same caliber, a .45 caliber Colt rifle firearm loaded with 29 useful cartridges, and a .38 mm caliber automatic handgun firearm loaded with 8 useful rounds.

In the city of Tijuana, at Venustiano Carranza Avenue in the corner of María Escobedo at Colonia Castillo, two men were arrested. These men were identified as 41-year-old César “N” and 33-year-old José Concepción “N”, a Tijuana native and San Luis Río Colorado native, respectively. Their arrest was possible thanks to an anonymous call to the 089 line, where it was reported that two men were driving a cherry-colored Acura RDX while shooting into the air.

When inspecting the reported vehicle, the officers proceeded to carry out the preventive protocol, and they found a .40 mm caliber firearm and a magazine loaded with 14 useful cartridges.

In the border city of Tijuana, two men were also arrested for the crime of being in possession of firearms while speeding recklessly in a white Chevrolet S-10. This occurred at José Manuel Salvatierra Avenue in Colonia Garita de Otay. Both men tried to flee through adjacent roads.

The men had in their possession a .40 mm caliber handgun firearm loaded with five useful rounds, a .45 mm caliber gun loaded with five useful cartridges, and a 7.62 mm caliber long rifle firearm loaded with 11 useful cartridges.

Lastly, in Tijuana as well, Jonathan Esrel “N” was also arrested. Jonathan is a Culiacán, Sinaloa native. He was walking on the streets of Colonia Pedregal Oeste in possession of a 9 mm caliber gun loaded with 10 useful rounds. In addition, he was hiding 100 plastic packages of synthetic methamphetamine, weighing approximately 70.8 grams (2.5 ounces), in his clothes.

The six detainees had their constitutional rights read to them and they, along with their firearms, were presented before the federal authority in charge of carrying out the proper investigations regarding possession of firearm crimes.

It should be noted that the Secretariat of Citizen Security of Baja California (SSCBC) continues to work on prevention matters through FESC, carrying out daily surveillance and monitoring tours that continue to show favorable results for the general public. All of this with the sole purpose of recovering peace in the streets of Baja California.
