Viva México! Balboa Park will celebrate Mexican Independence Day with spectacular event

San Diego Park will celebrate these national festivities

Do you know where you will do “El Grito”? San Diego, made up of several Mexican communities who live in the US, will celebrate Mexican Independence Day spectacularly and Balboa Park will be one of the most colorful and joyful spots to enjoy these national festivities.

On their official Facebook page, the park announced that Thursday is the beginning of “Hispanic Heritage Month” and that it will celebrate it with live music, art, and colors on September 16, 2022. Here’s what the post says:

Next Thursday is the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month! Celebrate with the House of Mexico's Arte, Color, y Fiesta event. All are welcome to enjoy live music and party on Friday, 9/16, from 6pm-8pm at the Spreckels Organ Pavilion. ¡Viva México!!

This free event will see performances by musical groups such as Ellas, Estrellas de Chula Vista and much more as well as the traditional Mexican “grito” (yell) which will be given by the General Consulate of Mexico in San Diego, Carlos González Gutiérrez. On GPS, add the following address: 1549 El Prado, San Diego, CA 92101, United States. If you’re walking, the best way to get from San Ysidro to Balboa Park without a car is to take the Park Bl & Village Pl bus. It lasts 51 minutes and can cost between $2 to $8 USD.
