Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, Governor of Baja California, met with entrepreneurs and inhabitants of the Valle de Guadalupe ejidos, wine production leaders in Mexico. This in order to carry out the essential agreements to boost the region’s development and strengthen economic activities to create wealth and wellbeing for the state.

In her speech, Marina del Pilar thanked and recognized the more than 200 enterprises in Valle de Guadalupe for their willingness to coordinate and also for their commitment in agreeing with several of the state's norms, especially the Environmental Impact Manifesto (MIA) as well as other rulings.

In addition, Ávila Olmeda highlighted the agreement between both parties to create a strategic agenda that takes into account the needs of the winemaking industry and other economic activities, as well as the inhabitants of all Valle de Guadalupe ejidos.

“I want you to know that we are your allies. We are on the side of Valle de Guadalupe, our valleys, our vocation, because we have a great region in our state. I want to reiterate, as state governor, that we have the best disposition;” Marina del Pilar said.

She also emphasized the integration of several state government agencies that are working together to strengthen Valle de Guadalupe such as the Secretariat for the Management, Treatment, and Protection of Water (SEPROA), the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Urban Development, and Territory Redesign (SIDURT), the Secretariat of Finance (SH), the Secretariat of the Environment and Sustainable Development (SMADS), the Secretariat of Economic and Innovation (SEI), and several others.

Ávila Olmeda highlighted the participation in work councils of Mexican government authorities and gave as an example the presence of Francisco Bernal Rodríguez, head of the National Water Commission (CONAGUA) of Baja California who led several work meetings to guarantee water supply for the numerous economic and social activities in Valle de Guadalupe.

The head of SEPROA, Armando Samaniego, stated that making sure all Baja Californians have access to water is a priority for Governor Marina del Pilar and, regarding Valle de Guadalupe and its ejidos, there is already authorized work being carried out so that these communities can be covered by the State Utilities Commission of Ensenada (CESPE). The objective is that state authorities handle water supply through pipes both for homes and businesses.

Among the winemaking industry projects, Samaniego stated that there are already advanced projects so that recycled water from Tijuana and Ensenada is used to boost agricultural activity. He emphasized that expertly administering the use of this natural resource is a priority for this state administration.

“We are speeding everything up so that we can make progress and resolve all the issues in our state. Water, lodging, the restaurant industry. This area is recognized by UNESCO due to its great gastronomy,” Marina del Pilar stated.

The governor highlighted the importance that developed tourist projects have in Valle de Guadalupe. There are already several planned that can be carried out with help from businessmen, the Government of Mexico, and the Municipal Administration of Ensenada. Another important factor is, the governor emphasized, the social industry responsibility that is quite clear for the business sector of Valle de Guadalupe.

At this event, the following people were present: Marco Estudillo, President of Entrepreneurs of Valle de Guadalupe; Gabriela Ledezma, representative for La Parra del Valle; Rafael Romo, commissioner of the El Porvenir ejido; Jonathan López, representative for Ser Turista; Francisco Bazán, of Hotel Contemplación and Restaurant Salvia Blanca; Edith Torneo, of Vinos 63 and Limbo Hotel; Sebastián Soltero, gastronomic businessman; Enoromance representative, Joel Palafox; Roberto Urbina, owner of Urbina winery, and tourist promoter, Fernando de la Cruz.
